Eleanor was born about 1244 in Castile, Spain.1   Eleanor's father was King of Castile Ferdinand III and her mother was Countess of Ponthieu Joana DE DAMMARTIN of Ponthieu.  Her paternal grandparents were King of Leon Alfonso IX of Leon and Berengaria of CASTILE QUEEN of CASTILE; her maternal grandparents were Simon de DANMARTIN COUNT OF AUMALE and Marie (Jeanne) of PONTHIEU COUNTESS OF PONTHIEU.  She was an only child.  She died on November 24th, 1290 in Herdeby, Near Grantham, Lincolnshire.2 


Eleanor's family with I Edward, (Longshanks) KING OF ENGLAND

‌Eleanor and I Edward, (Longshanks) were married in a religious ceremony on October 18th, 1254 in Las Huelgas, Burgos, Spain.1   They had a daughter named Elizabeth.
