JOHN (Sir) was born about 1205 in Shirland, Derbyshire, England.1   JOHN (Sir)'s father was HENRY (1st Baron de Codnor) de GREY and his mother was ISOLA (Iseude) BARDOLPH.  His paternal grandparents were RICHARD de GREY and UNKNOWN Miss; his maternal grandparents were HUGH de BARDOLPH and ISOBEL AQUILLION. He had three brothers named RICHARD, HUGH and ROBERT.  He was the second youngest of the four children.1
