GILBERT (Sir) "the Red" 9th EARL was born on September 2nd, 1243 in Christchurch, Hampshire, England.1   GILBERT (Sir) "the Red" 9th EARL's father was RICHARD 8th EARL de CLARE and his mother was MAUD (Countess) de LACIE.  His paternal grandparents were GILBERT 7th EARL de CLARE and ISABEL MARSHALL; his maternal grandparents were JOHN 7th BARON de LACIE and MARGARET LADY de QUINCY. He had a brother and a sister, named THOMAS LORD THOMOND and ROHESE.  He died at the age of 52 on December 7th, 1295 in Monmouth Castle, Monmouthshire, England.1
