James Algernon Youngblood 
James Algernon was born on October 28th, 1871 in Pike Co., AL.1 James Algernon's father was Thomas Jefferson Youngblood and his mother was Josephine Arthur Jenerett. His paternal grandparents were James Youngblood and Elizabeth Lee; his maternal grandparents were Elias G. Jenerett and Ann Eliza Thomas. He had three brothers and four sisters, named David F., John Bunyan, George Lester, Laura A., Nora V., Eula May and Arsula Winiford. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. "YOUNGBLOOD BROTHERS was a thriving business enterprise in Pike County in
1902. David F. Youngblood, James A. Youngblood and George L. Youngblood
(sons of Thomas J. Youngblood) were born in Pike County and went to St.
Louis to work for the Pauley Jail Building Company.
After learning the business, they returned to Troy and were very
successful in their chosen line of work. They perfected a portable cage
for prisoners adapted for the use of counties where convicts were worked
on public roads. The cage was fourteen feet long, and three feet six
inches wide, fitting a frame the same as that of a standard wagon. The
cages were in wide use in Alabama.
They opened a branch office in Dallas, Texas. The officers were David
F. Youngblood president, James A. Youngblood vice-president, George L.
Youngblood secretary and treasurer. The Texas company was capitalized at
$100,000. The company made steel cells for jails, iron bridges, ect. The
three borthers resided in Texas."(1)
