On 14 Feb 1998 Annye Pearle told me via phone that her father owned a
general merchandise store in Weogufka, Coosa Co., AL . She said her
Grandfather, John Daniel Thompson, would go to Sylacagua, Alabama, to get
the goods for the store with two mules and a large wagon. When she and
her brother knew of John's trip to Sylacauga, they would wait on the
store's porch the next day for his return. They waited excitedly because
they knew he had fruit, candy, and other goodies. Laughingly, she said,
"It was better than Santa Claus coming."
