Thomas Benjamin was born on May 6th, 1862 in Weogufka, Coosa Co., AL.1 Thomas Benjamin's father was Calvin Teel and his mother was Sarah Louise Griffin. His paternal grandparents were Henry Loderick Teel and Martha Young; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Griffin and Martha Fritz. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John C., Thomas Jefferson, William Henry, Nathan Franklin, Richard Columbus, George Dallas, Sarah Louise, Marha Ann Frances, Mary M., Seana J. and Emily July M.. He was the youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 24 in 1886 in Coosa Co., AL. He was buried in Teel Cemetery, located in the woods past old Weogufka Baptist Church, Coosa Co., AL.1 1 General Notes
