Richard Columbus was born on October 5th, 1856 in Davison, Tallapoosa Co., AL.1 Richard Columbus' father was Calvin Teel and his mother was Sarah Louise Griffin. His paternal grandparents were Henry Loderick Teel and Martha Young; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Griffin and Martha Fritz. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John C., Thomas Jefferson, William Henry, Nathan Franklin, George Dallas, Thomas Benjamin, Sarah Louise, Marha Ann Frances, Mary M., Seana J. and Emily July M.. He was the third youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 85 on April 26th, 1942 in Coosa Co., AL.
