Her paternal grandparents were Augustave Davis Spradley and Hannah Minerva Maxwell. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry Adolph, Vennie Claude, Floyd D., Jr., Lydia Augusta, Ellen Oren and Hannah Obera. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She had a half-sister named Jessie Francis.-
