James Madison was born on September 21st, 1860 in Coosa Co., AL.1 James Madison's father was John Alexander, Sr. Smith and his mother was Nancy Logan. His paternal grandparents were Patrick, Sr. Smith and Mary Ann Lindsey; his maternal grandparents were H. Alexander Logan and Martha Ann Smith. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John Alexander, Jr., Isaac Patrick, Mary Virginia and Martha Ella. He had four half-brothers named David W., William A., Henry Jackson and Lindsey.
