L. J. was born on August 5th, 1907 in Pike Co., AL.1 L. J.'s father was Herbert H. Rushing and his mother was Nora A. Spivey. His paternal grandparents were Stephen McDonald Rushing and Martha Sylvester Edwards. He had two brothers and a sister, named William Hollan, Render H. and Beulah. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 78 on October 13th, 1985 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL.
