Katherine's father was Ray Rushton Rushing and her mother was Mary Ella Fannin. Her paternal grandparents were David Oliver Rushing and Coral E. Rushton. She had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Charles, Ray Roderick, Coral, Jane and Mary.-
