Elizabeth Rushing 
Elizabeth was born on August 31st, 1874 in Pike Co., AL.1 Elizabeth's father was William Cain Rushing and her mother was Mary Ann Cogburn. Her paternal grandparents were Mathew Malachi Rushing and Elizabeth Thornhill. She had a sister named Minnie. She was the older of the two children. She had nine half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Mathew M. (Mack), John Eager Howard, Thomas A., Joseph T., Solomon James, Stephen McDonald, Henry Oscar, Eugene, Julius, Elizabeth Pheebe, Mary Jane, Susannah, Lucinda S. and Pleasant F.. She died at the age of 84 on August 17th, 1959 in Pike Co., AL. She was buried in Hinson Cemetery, on Highway 29, west of Troy, AL..1 1 General Notes

On 4 February 1882, Mastin A. Hinson, was appointed guardian of Lizzie
and Minnie, the two minor children of William Cain and Mary (French)
Rushing. Lizzie and Minnie were living in Pike County with their mother.

Mrs. Eliza R. Penn, age 81, died this morning at her residence on
West Madison St.
She is survivied by four sons, W. L. Penn of Atlanta, Ga.; J. D.
Penn of Washington, D. C.; W. H. Penn of Tampa, Fla.; W. R. Penn of
Atlanta, Ga. One daughter, Mrs. Mary F. Evans of Troy; 15 grandchildren
and 31 great-grandchildren. McGehee Funeral Home will be in charge." Troy
