Lilla Maye was born on April 10th, 1885 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Lilla Maye's father was William Powell McEwen and her mother was Martha Georgiana Adams. Her paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears; her maternal grandparents were William Henry Cidney Adams and Lucy Frances Carriker. She had nine brothers and three sisters, named William Vernie, Vernie May, Stewart Washington, George Samuels, Charles Edward, Thomas Jefferson, James Berdie, John Adams, Tera Anderson, Annie Belle, Mary Lucy and Effie Lee. She was the second oldest of the thirteen children. She died at the age of 1 on July 1st, 1886 in Coosa Co., AL. She was buried in Sears Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, Coosa Co., Rockford, AL.1 1 -
