Her paternal grandparents were Francis Marion McEwen and Lena Olive Ransome Melton. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Henry Grady, B. Weaver, John Frank, Infant Son, Mary Oliver, Sula M., Ina Alda, Grace Irene and Rose Lee. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.-
