James Thomas McEwen 
James Thomas was born on March 11th, 1865 in Coosa Co., AL.1 James Thomas' father was George Washington McEwen and his mother was Mary Catherine Sears. His paternal grandparents were Jasper Kirkham McEwen and Mary Ann Canada; his maternal grandparents were John A. Sears and Tabitha Jane Buckner. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named John Kirkham, William Powell, George Washington, Jr., Archie A., Mary Elizabeth, Martha Ann, Sarah Louise, Emma Jane, Mary Louise, Tabitha Olen and Arsula Antinet. He was the sixth youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 76 on April 10th, 1941 in AL. Mr. J. T. McEwen was badly injured and his car completely demolished
last week when he overturned on a curve near Stewartwille.
Mr. McEwen was heading toward Sylacauga when the accident occurred.
He was carried to the Sylacauga Infirmary for treatment but is home now
and we hope he may soon be able to be out again." (6)
