Her paternal grandparents were Bloomfield Logan and Milley Hutto; her maternal grandparents were John Matthew Barkley and Adaline Cobb Barrett. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John Bloomfield, William Henry, Commodore, Calvert L., Curtis Thomas, Mary Susan, Louetta, Amarilla Caroline and Martha Rena.
