D. Alabama was born on March 2nd, 1854 in Coosa Co., AL.1   D. Alabama's father was Ellis Logan and her mother was Amanda M. Wood.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Logan and Martha Ann George; her maternal grandparents were James Wood and Mary Reneau. She had six brothers and four sisters, named James C., Napoleon B., George M. Dallas, Richard Loyall, Ellis, Jr., Commodore, Martha Eudora, Julia Ann, Mary Jane and Virginia.  She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. She had six half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named John, Alonzo, Claud, William, Addison Clarion, Amazon, Ella Armand Bell, Ursula, Ida, Ada, Fanny, Vera Dell and Erdele.  She died at the age of 69 on January 14th, 1924 in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa Co., AL.1 


D. Alabama's family with James Newton Olive

‌D. Alabama and James Newton were married in a religious ceremony on May 20th, 1877 in Davis Creek, Fayette Co., AL.1   They had five sons and three daughters, named Roscoe Waits, Vol Vertie, Loyd Clyde, George Decator, Chestor Newton, James Essie, Buelah Belle and Theo.
