The romance with Amelia began way over in France when Amos went there to
fight for his country's honor. While he was there a little French girl
Mademoiselle Amelia of Rennes in Brittany, France had a letter one day
from a friend in America introducing this A. R. Morgan. Thus they met.
Some time later he came back to America and sometime after that, she
found her way to America where she learned that there was food  and fire
and shelter for every body who chose to work. Several months later she
arrived in Montgomery Alabama and took up her abode at the Y.W.C.A.  She
began working at a downtown store and after a while she was given a more
responsible position. Always happy, always grateful and very sensible was
she, so much so that all the girls at the Y.W.C.A. and the women as well,
became quite fond of her. They said she could not speak a word of English
at first but she declares that she could speak English only they could
not understand her.
