Joseph Elvin was born on June 15th, 1875 in Montgomery Co., AL.1 Joseph Elvin's father was David Morgan Huffman and his mother was Emily Jane Jackson. His paternal grandparents were David Huffman and Martha Sally Rambo; his maternal grandparents were John Jackson and Temperance Ann Henry. He had six brothers and six sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named William Dansler, John David, James A., Thomas Allen, Elbert Ether, Q. Z., Martha Temperance, Mary Ellen, Effie Pearl, Emily Esther, Ines Edith, Henrietta Bernice and Baby. He was the seventh oldest of the fourteen children.
