Elbert Ether was born on January 31st, 1877 in Montgomery Co., AL.1 Elbert Ether's father was David Morgan Huffman and his mother was Emily Jane Jackson. His paternal grandparents were David Huffman and Martha Sally Rambo; his maternal grandparents were John Jackson and Temperance Ann Henry. He had six brothers and six sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named William Dansler, John David, James A., Thomas Allen, Joseph Elvin, Q. Z., Martha Temperance, Mary Ellen, Effie Pearl, Emily Esther, Ines Edith, Henrietta Bernice and Baby. He was the seventh youngest of the fourteen children.
