Wilmer Goss was born on June 26th, 1919 in Grimes Farm, Weogufka, Coosa Co., AL.1 Wilmer Goss' father was Charles Henry Grimes and his mother was Nancy Annie Miller. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Martin Grimes and Mahala S. Goss; his maternal grandparents were Henry Walter Miller and Mary Fannie Vansandt. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Henry Walter, Thomas Martin, Sr., Lessie Ellice and Lottie Maye. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 64 on April 30th, 1984 in Grimes Farm, Weogufka, Coosa Co., AL. He was buried in Weogufka First Baptist Church Cemetery, Coosa Co., AL. Wilmer Goss Grimes b. June 26, 1919 d. April 30, 1984
He married Catherine Mims on Dec. 23, 1944 at the Weogufka Methodist
Church Parsonage. They lived with Annie M. Grimes on the Grimes farm.
Goss went to work in Birmingham at Catepillar Tractor and Catherine
stayed on the farm. She learned how to be an expert cook from Annie
Grimes. On Oct. 2, 1945 they had a daughter Annabelle Grimes. Annabelle
found Annie Grimes lying in the yard on June 29, 1951. She had apparently
had a stroke or heart attack. She died later the next morning. Catherine
then ran the farm. She was the sole caretaker. Goss was very spoiled
and did not do much work around the house. He worked hard away from home
though. They later had a son, Charles Lee Grimes on July 28, 1953. He
was killed in a car accident across the road from the Grimes pasture on
April 1, 1973. He never married. Goss Grimes never fully recovered
from Charles' death. Annabelle Grimes married a veternarian named Jackie
Lee Hewitt from Carthage TN. ( He is a cousin to the former Vice-Pres.
AL Gore) They moved to Abingdon, VA and he took over a practice there.
They had two children, Leanna Dawn Hewitt on January 4, 1974 and Charles
Robert Hewitt on April 13, 1975. They divorced in 1979 and Annabelle and
the two children moved back to the Grimes farm. Catherine practically
raised the two children. Catherine died on Oct. 14, 2000. Leanna Hewitt
married Gerald Murchison Jr. on June 5, 1993 and divorced a short time
later. She remarried Kevin Ethridge Holmes on Oct. 17, 1998. They later
moved to the Grimes farm. Charles Robert Hewitt has not married. He is
planning to live in the Grimes home on the farm. Kevin's grandmother is a
Miller also. Her name is Orene Miller Patton. Her father I think was
Ethridge Miller. I haven't had time to see if there is a connection. If
