Mary Martin was born on November 23rd, 1823 in Huntingdon, Autauga Co., AL.1   Mary Martin's father was John Archer Elmore and her mother was Nancy Ann Martin.  Her paternal grandparents were Archelas Elmore and Susannah Morris; her maternal grandparents were John Martin and Elizabeth Dickerson Terry. She had ten brothers and three sisters, named John Archer, Jr., Morris Martin, William Augustus, Luther Alfred, Henry Marshall, Laurence Ludlow, Physick Rush, Winfield Scott, Albert Standhope, James Scott, Susan Elizabeth, Sarah Terry and Ann Harriet. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Benjamin Thomas, Franklin Harper, Narcissa, Sophia Saxon and Charlotte Perry.  She died at the age of 92 on February 16th, 1916 in New Waverly, TX.  She was buried in Willis, TX.1 1

‌Mary Martin and Hamlin Freeman were married in a religious ceremony on January 21st, 1840 in Wetumpka, AL.1   They had a son and four daughters, named William Edward, Lucy Hamlin, Mary Elmore, Annie Rebecca and Sarah Fitzpatrick.
