Jesse Lee James was born on July 29th, 1909 in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama.1 Jesse Lee James' father was James Richard Darby and his mother was Myrtle Blanch Holland. His paternal grandparents were Sidney Ransom Darby and Julia E. Garrett. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Willie Jack, Martin Holland, Sr., Mary Alyne and Daisy Evelyn. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 79 on June 23rd, 1989 in Loxley, Baldwin County, Alabama.
