Thomas Jefferson was born on September 15th, 1808 in Bertie Co., NC.1 Thomas Jefferson's father was John Dawson Castellaw and his mother was Zilpha Spruill. His paternal grandparents were John Castellaw and Margaret Dawson; his maternal grandfather was Simeon Spruill. He had a brother and two sisters, named Son, Harriet W. and Daughter. According to the Zion Baptist Church Obituary Book from 1877 to 1924 for
Haywood Co., TN the following was extracted: Thomas moved to Haywood Co.,
TN while young. He married Mary Cole at the age of 31 years. He professed
religion about the year 1839 and joined Zion Baptist Church. Thomas
gradually accumulated land and became a substantial landowner. His will
is date July 8, 1878 in Will Book E, page 380 for Haywood Co., TN
