Thomas bought 250 acres of land for 10 pounds from John Williams and his
wife Ann on the N S Roanoke River in August 1729. John Williams and Ann
were Thomas'grandparent. Thomas was in Duplin Co. on May 22, 1753. Thomas
migrated to South Carolina in 1762. Thomas and Mary were married by May
1753. He was a Revolutionary War soldier.
A Thomas Castellaw came to Georgia from South Carolina with a wife, a
son and seven daughters age 5 to 16. He also had 12 negros with him. He
was granted 250 acres of land on Red Lick Creek adjoining Cader Powell
(Journal of August Land Court, November 8, 1773). Thomas and his wife
were witnesses in Bertie Co., SC in May 1753.
"The Bush Family" by Elizabeth DeHuff states that Mary Hand Bush
married Thomas Castellaw and moved with her children to Barnwell Co., SC.
Thomas was in Duplin Co., North Carolina on May 22, 1753. It isbelieved
that Thomas brought his mother and sisters to DuplinCounty with him.
On February 17, 1755, in Duplin County, Thomas sold to Thomas Rhodes two
tracts of land on Rocquist in Bertie County. He then purchased land on
Gosen Swamp from Lemuel Lanier on August 12,1755 in a deed witnessed by
Sarah Castellaw. This deed was made shortly before Sarah's marriage to
Jesse Barfield.
