Thomas Alvin was born on May 11th, 1906 in Downsville, Union Parish, LA.1 Thomas Alvin's father was John William Bridges and his mother was Stella Skains. His paternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks; his maternal grandparents were Thomas A. Skains and Bertha Honeycutt. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John William, Jr., Binford, Moody, Myrtle, Trudy S., Marzie Cordie, R. V., Foye, Neola Gray and Janie Ophilia. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He had three half-brothers named Ocie Lafayette, Lonnie Howard and William Archie. He died at the age of 81 in November 1987 in LA.1 General Notes
