Elizabeth was born in 1473 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Elizabeth's father was James Hamilton and her mother was Mary Stewart. Her paternal grandparents were James Hamilton and Janet Livingston; her maternal grandparents were James Stewart and Marie Gueldres. She was an only child. She died at the age of 58 in 1531 in Scotland.-
