James was born about 1645 in England. James' father was Henry Clothier and his mother was Elizabeth Gundy. His maternal grandfather was Henry Gundy. He was an only child. He died in 1714.
James and Sarah Jane were married in a religious ceremony in 1686. They had a son named Henry.
