Rachel was born in 1784 in Washington Co., Va. Rachel's father was John Benham and her mother was Mary Hobbs. Her paternal grandparents were John Benham and Catherine VanDyke; her maternal grandparents were Vincent Hobbs and Mary Hannah Shelby. She was an only child. She died in Platte Co., Missouri.-
