BIRTH: On 1850 census, Elizabeth Whitt living with William & Polly (Whitt) Hess. In 1860 Russell Co, Va Census The same Elizabeth Whitt is living with her parents James & Hannah Whitt. In 1850 James Whitt (s/o John & Mary (Pleasant) Witt)is 45 yrs old wife Hannah is 44, Polly (Whitt) Hess is 23 and Elizabeth Whitt is 20. It is high;y likely that Elizabeth is Mary "Polly" Whitt's sister. James Whitt and wife Hannah are the right age to be the parents of both Polly and Elizabeth. Therefor, until further proof or documentation can be found, I am listing Polly's parents as James & Hannah Whitt and grandparents as John Witt & Mary "Polly" Pleasant.
