Adela de was born about 0895 in Vermandois, Normandy, France. Adela de's father was Herbert I Count of Vermandois and her mother was Bertha (Beatrice) de Morvois. She had a brother and two sisters, named Herbert II Count of Troyes &, Beatrix de and Judith (Jutta) de. She was the youngest of the four children.
