Gerberge Auceps of was born in 0925 in Nordhausen, Saxony, Prussia.  Gerberge Auceps of's father was Heinrich I "The Fowler" King of the Germans and her mother was Matilda Countess of Ringelheim.  Her paternal grandparents were Otto the Illustrious Duke of Saxony and Hedwige (Edith) Princess of Bavaria; her maternal grandparents were Theudebert Duke of Saxony and Ludmilla Ragnhildis Countess of Ringelheim. She had two brothers and a sister, named Otto I "The Great", Henry I "The Quarrelsome" Duke of and Hedwige Princess of.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 59 on May 5th, 0984 in Rheims, Champagne, France.
