Ermengarde was born in 0975.  Ermengarde's father was William III Taillefer Count Toulouse and her mother was Arsinde D'Anjou.  Her paternal grandparents were Raimond III Toulouse Count Toulouse and Bertha of Tuscany; her maternal grandparents were Fulk II Count of Anjou and Gerberge Du Maine. She had a sister named Constance of.  She was the younger of the two children.
