Richard was born in Windsor Castle, Hampshire, England.  Richard's father was John "Lackland" King of England and his mother was D'Angouleme Isabella De Taillefer D'Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet King of England and Elbeonore Duchess of Aquitaine; his maternal grandparents were Count of Valence & Angouleme Aymer De Taillefer Count of Valence & Angouleme and Alice De Courtenay. He had a brother and two sisters, named Henry III King of, Isabel Princess Of and Eleanor Princess of. He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Richard, Hugh XI, William De Lusignan, Aymer, Geoffroi, Joanna Princess of, Mathilda, Alice and Isabelle.  He died on April 2nd, 1272 in Newark Castle, Hertfordshire, England.
