Eleanor was born about 1318 in Grismond Castle, Monmouthshire, Wales.  Eleanor's father was Henry Plantagenet , 3rd Earl of Lancaster, MP and her mother was Maud de Chaworth.  Her paternal grandparents were Edmund "Crouchback" Plantagenet , Earl Lancaster and Blanche d' Artois , Queen of Navarre; her maternal grandparents were Patrick de Chaworth , Lord of Kempsford and Isabel de Beauchamp. She had a brother and three sisters, named Henry of Grosmont, Maud, Joan and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died in Arundel Castle, Sussex, England.  She was buried in Lewes Priory, Sussex, England.

‌Eleanor and John 2nd Baron de were married in a religious ceremony before June 1337.  They had a son named Henry 3rd Baron de.

‌Eleanor and Richard II "Copped Hat" were married in a religious ceremony in Ditton, England.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Richard III, John, Joan and Alice.
