Eleanor was born about 1318 in Grismond Castle, Monmouthshire, Wales. Eleanor's father was Henry Plantagenet , 3rd Earl of Lancaster, MP and her mother was Maud de Chaworth. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund "Crouchback" Plantagenet , Earl Lancaster and Blanche d' Artois , Queen of Navarre; her maternal grandparents were Patrick de Chaworth , Lord of Kempsford and Isabel de Beauchamp. She had a brother and three sisters, named Henry of Grosmont, Maud, Joan and Mary. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died in Arundel Castle, Sussex, England.
