GarcÌa II (or III), byname GARCÕA THE TREMBLER, Spanish GARCÕA EL TR…MULO (d. 1005), king of Pamplona (Navarre) and of Aragon from about 994 to about 1000, son of Sancho II GarcÈs. Coming to the aid of besieged Castile, GarcÌa fought against the Muslim forces of Abu 'Amir al-Mansur. Mansur then turned his armies against Navarre (1002), burning the monastery of San Mill·n de la Cogolla before dying unexpectedly. GarcÌa died three years later and was succeeded by Sancho III GarcÈs, the Great. [Encyclopaedia Britannica CD '97]
