Emma de was born about 1066 in Mortagne-au-Perche, Orne, Normandy, France.  Emma de's father was Robert de Mortaigne , Earl of Cornwall and her mother was Maud de Montgomery.  Her paternal grandparents were Harlevin (Herlouin) Vicomte de Conteville and Herleve (Arlette) de Falaise; her maternal grandparents were Roger II de Montgomery , 1st Earl of Shrewsbury and Mabel de Talvas d' Alencon. She had a brother and two sisters, named William de, Agnes de and Denise de.  She was the oldest of the four children. She had a half-sister named Miss de.  She died after 1080 in Huesca, Spain.

‌Emma de and William IV Count of were married in a religious ceremony before June 16th, 1080 in 2nd wife.  They had a daughter named Philippa (Maud\Matilda) de.
