Matilda Maud was born about 1192 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Matilda Maud's father was Earl of Pembroke William Marshall and her mother was Isabel Fitzgilbert de Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were Marshall of England John FitzGilbert and Sibilla Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Earl Richard Fitzgilbert Clare and Countess Aoife Eve Macmurrough. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Richard, Gilbert, Walter, Anselm, Joan, Isabel, Sybil and Eve.  She was the third oldest of the ten children.  She died on March 27th, 1248 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.
