John was born about 1212 in Hockering, Mitford, Norfolk, England. John's father was John le Marshal , of Hingham & Hockering, Sir and his mother was Aline de Rye , Heiress of Hingham & Hockering. His paternal grandparents were John le Marshal , of Rockley, Sir and Alice; his maternal grandparents were Hubert II de Rye , of Hingham & Hockering and Margaret FitzWilliam. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Alice le and Sibyl. He was the oldest of the four children. He died before October 23rd, 1242 in (dsp).General Notes
JOHN MARSHAL, son and heir, did homage on succession, 27 June 1235. In November 1236 his brother William was permitted to act as his deputy in the marshalcy of Ireland. He married, in or before August 1242, Margaret, sister and coheir of Thomas (DE NEUBOURG), EARL of WARWICK, who died in June 1242. He was living 3, but dead before 23 October 1242.
