Frederick I Count of Salm & was born about 0965 in Moselgau, France.  Frederick I Count of Salm &'s father was Siegfried Count of Luxembourg and his mother was Hedwig of Nordgau.  His paternal grandparents were Richwin Count of Verdun and Cunegonde of France; his maternal grandparents were Eberhard IV von Hohenburg Count of Nordgau and Luitgarde of Luxembourg. He had four sisters named Eva of, Luitgarde of, Judith of and Kunigunde of.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died on October 6th, 1019 in Chateau de Salm, Luxembourg.
