Louis VIII Capet the Lion was born on November 5th, 1187 in Paris, Seine, France.  Louis VIII Capet the Lion's father was Philippe II Capet Augustus King of France and his mother was Isabella de Hainault.  His paternal grandparents were Louis VII "The Younger" King of France and Alix of Champagne; his maternal grandparents were Baudouin VIII Count (V of Hainault) of Flanders and Margaret of Alsace , Countess of Flanders. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Philip Capet Hurepel and Marie Capet.  He died at the age of 39 on November 8th, 1226 in Montpensier, Auvergne, France.


Louis VIII Capet the Lion's family with Blanca de Castile

‌Louis VIII Capet the Lion and Blanca were married in a religious ceremony on May 23rd, 1200 in Normandy.  They had ten sons and a daughter, named Philippe Capet, St. Louis IX Capet, Robert Capet de Artois I, Jean Capet, Alphonse Capet de Poitiers, Etienne Capet, Philippe Capet, Philippe Dagobert Capet, Charles I Capet de, Jean Capet and Isabella Capet.
