Louis II was born about 0823 in Alsace, Lorraine, France.  Louis II's father was Lothair I (Lothar) Holy Roman Emperor and his mother was Ermengarde de Orleans.  His paternal grandparents were Louis I "The Pious" Holy Roman Emperor and Ermengarde Princess of Hesbaye; his maternal grandparents were Hugh "le Mefiant" Comte de Tours and Bava (Aba). He had a brother and two sisters, named Lothar II "the Saxon" King of, Rothilde Of and Ermengarde Duchess of the.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died on August 12th, 0875 in Italy.  He was buried in St. Ambroise, Milan, Italy.
