John Plantagenet of was born in 1340 in St. Bevans Abbey, Ghent, Flanders.  John Plantagenet of's father was Edward III King of England and his mother was Philippa of Hainault.  His paternal grandparents were Edward II King of England and Isabella Princess of France; his maternal grandparents were William III Count of Hainault & Holland and Jeanne de Valois. He had four brothers named Edward The Black Prince of, Lionel of Antwerp Duke of, Edmund Langley Duke of and Thomas Plantagenet Duke of.  He died in Leicester Castle.
