Isabel Fitzgilbert was born about 1172 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Isabel Fitzgilbert's father was Earl Of Pembroke Richard "Strongbow" Fitzgilbert De Clare Earl Of Pembroke and her mother was Eva (Aoife) McMurrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl of Pembroke Gilbert FitzGilbert De Clare Earl of Pembroke and Isabel Elizabeth De Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were Dermot MacMurrough King of Leinster and Mor Ingen Muirchertaig O'Toole. She had two sisters named Basilia and Joan.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died in 1220 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

‌Isabel Fitzgilbert and William were married in a religious ceremony in August 1189 in London, Middlesex, England.  They had five sons and five daughters, named William, Richard, Walter , 5th Earl of Pembroke, Anselme, Gilbert, Maud (Matilda), Eve, Isabel, Joan and Sibyl.
