Maud was born in 1230 in Breconshire, Wales.  Maud's father was William De Braose IV Earl of Abergavenny and her mother was Eve Marshall.  Her paternal grandparents were Reginald De Braose and Gladys The Dark of Wales; her maternal grandparents were William Marshall Earl of Pembroke and Elizabeth De Clare Countess of Strigoil. She had four sisters named Eve, Eleanor, Ela and Isabel.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 71 in 1301.


Maud's first family with Roger Mortimer Lord of Wigmore

They had two sons and three daughters, named Edmund De Mortimer Lord, Roger De Mortimer II Of, Isabella, Margaret and Isolde.


Maud's second family with Henry De Tracy Lord of Barnstaple

They had a daughter named Eve.
