Maude de Lacy was born in 1223 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.  Maude de Lacy's father was John de Lacy Earl of Lincoln and her mother was Margaret de Quincy.  Her paternal grandparents were Roger 'Helle' de Lacy Lord Pontefract and Matilda de Clare; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Quincy and Hawise le Meschines Cts de Lincoln. She had a brother named Edmund de Lacy.  She was the older of the two children.  She died in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.

‌Maude de Lacy and Richard de Clare were married in a religious ceremony.  They had four sons and four daughters, named Sir Gilbert the Red de, Bogo, Benedict, Sir Thomas de Clare, Isabel, Margaret, Rohese (Agnes) and Eglentiria.
