Peter II Count de was born about 1155 in Courtenay, Gatinais, Isle-de-France, France.  Peter II Count de's father was Peter I Count de Courtenay , Prince of France and his mother was Elizabeth de Courtenay.  His paternal grandparents were Louis VI "The Fat" King of France and Adelaide of Savoy; his maternal grandparents were Renaud I Sire de Courtenay and Hedwige du Donjon. He had a brother and a sister, named Robert de and Alice de.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died in Epirus, Byzantine Empire, Greece.
