Isabel de was born about 1172 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Isabel de's father was Richard Strongbow de Clare , 2nd Earl Pembroke and her mother was Eve (Aoife) MacMurrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert de Clare , 1st Earl of Pembroke and Isabel Elizabeth de Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were Diarmait MacMurchada King of Leinster and More O'Toole. She had a sister named Joan de.  She was the older of the two children.  She died in 1220 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthsire, England.

‌Isabel de and William were married in a religious ceremony in August 1189 in London, Middlesex, England.  They had a son and five daughters, named William, Sibyl, Maud, Eva, Isabel and Joan.
