Richard de was born about 1220 in Chilham Castle, Kent, England.  Richard de's father was Richard FitzRoy , Baron of Chilham and his mother was Rose de Douvers , Heiress of Chilham.  His paternal grandparents were John I "Lackland" Plantagenet King of England and Suzanne Plantagenet de Warenne; his maternal grandparents were Foubert de Douvres , Baron of Chilham and Isabel de Briwere. He had three sisters named Margaret, Isabel and Lorette de.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died on August 6th, 1270 in Carthage near Tunis, Africa.
