Eleanor de was born about 1105 in Chatellerault, Vienne, Poitou, France.  Eleanor de's father was Aimery (Almeric) I Vicomte de Chatellerault and her mother was Dangereuse de L'Isle Bouchard.  Her paternal grandparents were Boson II Vicomte de Chatellerault and Eleanor de Thouars; her maternal grandparents were Bartholomew de L'Isle Bouchard and Gerberge. She had a brother named Raoul de.  She was the older of the two children.
